Winter Interlude

When the belief that the harrowing winter would finally yield to the kindness of spring was strongest it was taken away. The violence of the impact is a direct result of how unguarded I’d become, and as such the trauma hits on relaxed and innocent flesh that could have taken it better under different circumstances. A handful of truly frigid days are visiting for a short spell that will in hindsight be forgotten, and yet it is all the more maddening because of it. Where is the compromise?
